TenCate Advanced Armor USA wins US government body armor contract

TENCATE ADVANCED ARMOR USA WINS US GOVERNMENT ESAPI PLATE ORDER

TenCate Advanced Armor USA, Inc. recently was awarded a US government contract for Soldier Protection System Vital Torso Protection Generation (GEN II) Enhanced Small Arms Protection Inserts (ESAPI).  Ceradyne Inc. and Leading Technology Composites were also awarded portions of the contract from Army Contracting Command.  All awardees will proceed to stringent First Article Testing to qualify the GEN II ESAPI for production.  The estimated completion date for the program is March 5, 2023.

The contract is another step in TenCate Advanced Armor’s extensive development in body armor plates to increase ballistic performance while lowering weight, making the plates thinner, and preparing the portfolio of plates to comply with future requirements. The process has been going on for several years with extensive adjustment to raw materials, manufacturing processes, plate lineup, and technical composition.
