TenCate Advanced Armor Receives Endorsement from US ARMY

US ARMY Maneuver Center of Excellence endorses TenCate ABDS Sentinel X

TENCATE ADVANCED ARMOR RECEIVES ENDORSEMENT FROM US ARMY MANEUVER CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR TENCATE ABDS TM SENTINEL X ACTIVE BLAST MITIGATION SYSTEM TO COMBAT IEDS

TenCate Advanced Armor Design has received a letter of endorsement from the US ARMY Maneuver Center of Excellence for its active blast mitigation system called TenCate ABDSTM Sentinel X. This endorsement is an important milestone in the process to field ABDSTM Sentinel X as a blast protection solution for deployed troops.

The Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE) at Fort Benning, GA, is home to US Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) which establishes guidelines for the preparedness and effectivity of the US Soldier. MCoE has evaluated ABDSTM Sentinel X for its ability to mitigate and defeat the injurious and deadly effects of land mines and IEDs. MCoE’s endorsement effectively resets survivability standards for ground platforms and confirms the extraordinary blast threat protection enhancement capabilities of the TenCate ABDSTM Sentinel X system.

The MCoE letter of endorsement complements a similar notice from the US ARMY Tank and Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) which also confirms the threat protection capability and advises consideration of ABDS technologies to reduce vehicle launch acceleration, jump height, slam-down and thereby decrease occupant injury metrics for wheeled, tracked, combat, tactical, light, medium and heavy platforms. The TARDEC document recognizes ABDSTM Sentinel X at Technology Readiness Level Six (TRL6) which means that Platform Managers can now opt for its use in hostile environments.

Official recognition by the US Department of Defense represents an important advancement in the process to field ABDSTM Sentinel X to improve underbelly protection for US and Allied troops. These endorsements validate maturity, reliability and improved survivability on a range of blast resistant Military platforms and provide Product Managers with an optional, high-confidence and ready solution in their toolbox for use when underbelly IED threats resurface.

TenCate ABDSTM Sentinel X active blast mitigation reduces injuries and saves lives by minimizing the transfer of mine blast energy witnessed by a mounted crew. This is effected via the “Conservation of Momentum” principle and is extremely efficient. ABDS™ is a robust and proven, additive, modular and conditionally optional multi-tasking solution for increasing occupant threat protection on deployed and new-production blast resistant ground vehicles.

TenCate Advanced Armor Design, an independent division of TenCate Advanced Armor, is a full service ballistic and blast survivability design engineering center located in Goleta, CA. TenCate Advanced Armor Design is the world’s foremost expert on active blast mitigation systems and consults with Governments and Industry to enhance threat protection and develop innovate solutions to increase survivability for vehicle occupants, systems and payloads, including the new TenCate ABDSTM Sentinel X active blast mitigation system.
